Cambados will be the first Spanish Wine City. Throughout 2024, the Pontevedra town will hold this distinction, created by the Spanish Association of Wine Cities (ACEVIN) as a new insignia to promote wine tourism and wine culture linked to towns and cities throughout the country.
The municipality was elected during the extraordinary assembly of the group, held in Madrid last Monday, October 16. The involvement and support of the administrations, associations and companies of the territory, in addition to the planned program of activities, were some of the factors that were decisive for its choice. The candidacy presented a list of activities to be carried out throughout 2024 linked to wine, tourism, gastronomy and leisure.
Rosa Melchor, president of ACEVIN, highlighted the proposals of the candidacy, focused on “knowing, living and enjoying the vineyard, the wine and the landscape; relying on the natural, industrial, cultural heritage, traditions and wine-growing legacy of the territory, keeping in mind the environment and sustainable rural development in the territorial wine tourism field.”
In addition to being a partner of ACEVIN, Cambados is part of the Rías Baixas Wine Route, integrated into the Spanish Wine Routes brand.
