Vila Nova de Gaia will host tomorrow, November 20, the celebration of the III Workshop of Destination Proximity of the Galician Tourism Cluster in which it is expected that more than a hundred professionals of the Galician and Portuguese tourist sector will meet. This is the third time this year that this marketing initiative has been launched, facilitating B2B meetings to bring the Galicia Destination closer to the tourist sector of Porto and its area of influence. The workshop will be held in the afternoon of tomorrow, November 20, when those responsible for the different Galician companies travel to Porto to maintain individual meetings with the city tour operation.
From the Cluster Tourism of Galicia its president, Cesáreo Pardal, emphasized the excellent reception of this new workshop, with which it is completed for this year the presence of the Galician tourist offer in near destinations to Galicia, for which our territory can be an ideal option to enjoy a bridge or a weekend, since they are to less than three hours of distance. “The places for this workshop were filled in a few days”, explained Pardal, who highlighted that this is the first time that the Cluster has carried out this initiative with this format in the neighbouring country.
Previously the Cluster Tourism of Galicia had carried out similar actions in Salamanca, Oviedo and Valladolid, also with very good reception and a night in Oporto, three years ago, with the aim of strengthening relations with the Portuguese tourism sector, but without moving the workshop format.
To strengthen ties and make known the Galician tourist offer.
In this trail, Cesáreo Pardal highlighted the importance of bringing the diversity of the Galician tourist offer to the territory of Portgués, which continues to be the first international market for Galicia. It should also be noted that in the last year has increased significantly the number of Portuguese who choose Galicia as a tourist destination not just for a day, but stay overnight, as between January and August the hotels in Galicia accommodated about 145,000 Portuguese travelers who made more than 247,000 overnight stays.
With this workshop in the fashionable Portuguese city, the Galician Tourism Cluster puts an end to its proximity destination workshops for this year, within an initiative that aims to bring the Galician tourist offer to destinations that meet the perfect conditions to be emitters of national tourism to the Galician territory.
