The department directed by Román Rodríguez also announces the tender for the Ribeira Sacra plan to coordinate actions in this territory.

Within the framework of the presentation of the Open Door Days on the Galician wine routes, which will take place from 7 to 9 and from 14 to 16 June in the designations of origin Rías Baixas, Ribeiro, Monterrei, Ribeira Sacra and Valdeorras with the participation of 67 wineries and a wide range of proposals such as commented tastings, visits to museums or monumental routes, the Xunta de Galicia highlighted the investments being made by the regional administration for the promotion of wine tourism. A support that translates into a contribution of 230,000 euros for the realization of these days until 2021, and 236,000 euros for the signaling of the routes of the Rías Baixas and Ribeiro DO already executed to which are added important investments for the implementation of the Wine Museum of Galicia in Ribadavia, the Museum of Enology of the County of Tea, the Spa Viñoterapia de Leiro or for the conservation of the cave presses of Oímbra, among other actions. In this way, the Galician Government made a total contribution for the dynamization of enotourism of 4.3 million euros, to which is added the support to the numerous festivals of tourist interest around this product.

In addition, the conselleiro of Culture and Tourism, Roman Rodriguez, made reference to the upcoming implementation of tourism revitalization plans for the five areas appellation of origin, fruit of the collaboration of various departments of the Xunta with the aim of economically boosting these territories and the implementation of the signaling of DO Monterrei, Ribeira Sacra and Valdeorras.

Licitation of the Ribeira Sacra plan

The department directed by Román Rodríguez has also announced the tender for the Ribeira Sacra Management Plan, as a step towards continuing the process of the candidacy of this cultural landscape for inscription on UNESCO’s World Heritage List, a plan which, according to the Councillor for Culture and Tourism, represents “a real opportunity for the protection, continuous improvement and promotion” of this territory and will be “a sign of our commitment to the conservation and dissemination of this cultural landscape”, serving to “coordinate investments and actions developed by the different agents of the territory”. The plan also includes the development of specific measures aimed at preserving the exceptional universal value of this environment and will promote the dissemination of its values within and outside the area.

In this sense Rodriguez recalled the investment of more than 1.8 million euros during 2018, aimed at the restoration and conservation of cultural heritage, tourism promotion activities of the Ribeira Sacra and the care and signaling of the Winter Trail. An investment effort that continues throughout 2019, in which were already executed 1.7 million euros, tendering conservation actions worth more than 700,000.
