Activities

The Galician Tourism Fair will be held at the Silleda exhibition centre from 2 to 5 June.

The International Fairground of Galicia Abanca, in Silleda, will reopen its doors to the tourism sector next June hosting the eleventh edition of Turexpo Galicia, the Tourism Fair of Galicia. For four days, from Thursday 2 to Sunday 5, representatives of the Galician and national tourism world will meet with a large number of national and international tour operators to establish contacts, promote their products, seal agreements, gain the trust of consumers and generate business. The aim is, in short, and according to the show’s promoters, “to revitalise companies and destinations”.

After the cancellation of the 2020 edition due to the covid pandemic, and the renewed impetus given by Turexpo 2021, its organisers are confident that this year’s show will take a new step forward. To this end, they are working on the selection of a large number of national and international operators of great interest to all participants and also on the incorporation of more emerging countries as tourism issuers. In addition, they will optimise the meeting agendas to increase their efficiency. In 2019, Turexpo attracted 128,000 visitors and hosted 2,800 meetings with 47 tour operators from 11 countries. Last year, despite the restrictions still in place due to the pandemic and the change of dates, 57,000 visitors and 1,900 meetings were held, with 38 professionals from 11 countries.

The eleventh edition of Turexpo will once again have destination exhibitors as the main focus, but there will also be space for training with the holding of technical conferences and a meeting of bloggers that will bring together an outstanding group of experts in the dissemination of digital content. Its promoters hope that the extension of the Holy Year Xacobeo 21-22 will also become an added attraction.

Admission will be free and the first two days the activities will focus on professionals from the tourism sector, while the last two days the doors will be open to the general public.

Festur and Iberian Tourism Conference

In parallel to Turexpo, the eighth edition of the Festivals of Tourist Interest Fair (Festur) will also be held, an event organised in collaboration with the Galicia Tourism Agency to publicise the numerous Galician festivals that enjoy this recognition. The Festur programme will include tastings, staging and exhibitions to showcase the special features of these celebrations. In addition, the second Iberian Tourism Conference will also take place on 2 and 3 June, bringing together businessmen and institutional representatives from Spain and Portugal to debate the situation and future of tourism in the Iberian Peninsula.
