Galicia Friendly closes its 2nd edition with 70 new additions to its programme to improve language skills

Santiago hosted the closing day of the program aimed at improving the image of the establishments and attention to foreign visitors

The City of Culture of Santiago de Compostela today hosted the delivery of the plaques “Galicia Friendly” that accredit the hotel establishments that have English skills that enable them to offer service to foreign tourists. In total there are 87 establishments that are counted this year within the program, 15 renewed with respect to the first edition and a total of 72 new accessions, all of them hotel establishments belonging to Coruña, Santiago, Lugo and Pontevedra.
In the act of delivery of the recognitions of use of the program were present, in addition to the president of the Galician Tourism Cluster and the presidents of the promoting hotel associations (A Coruña, Lugo, Santiago and Pontevedra), the chef of the restaurant Arbore da Viera A Coruña, Luis Veira, awarded a Michelin Star, who gave a closing speech and collected his own plaque “Galicia Friendly”.
The Galicia Friendly programme, promoted by the Galician Tourism Cluster in collaboration with the Galician Tourism Agency, thus puts an end to an intense process of auditing and improving the language skills of Galician hoteliers that has been developed during the months of September and October with the aim of improving the language skills of their workers and communication supports, both on-line and off-line, allowing them to better meet the needs of foreign tourists. The Galicia Friendly team has taken care of giving advice and personalised support, drawing up reports to guide their actions to improve this attention to the foreign client.
