The Luis Seoane Foundation in A Coruña will host the XII Meeting of World Heritage Managers in Spain, which will be held between 6 and 8 November and will have the participation of more than 80 expert managers and heritage managers. Organised by the Ministry of Culture and coordinated by the Subdirectorate General for Heritage Protection, it will address the theme of Communication and Heritage with the aim of transmitting the Exceptional Universal Value of these resources through the interventions of World Heritage Site managers from all over Spain, as well as various experts and representatives of UNESCO and ICOMOS.

The director of the Tower of Hercules and coordinator of the conference, Ana Santorun, in collaboration with the Subdirectorate General for Heritage Protection, noted that in this meeting the various managers and representatives of World Heritage Sites will address the mode of transmission and communication of their own Exceptional Universal Value (UVA), which defines the protection of the values of their Heritage.

The programme will begin on Tuesday 6 and will be devoted to the framework conferences and will continue for two days with the presentation of case studies and good practices. During Thursday, day 8, the participants in the meeting will visit the most emblematic points of the city, as the Old City, the walls, the castle of Sano Antón and the castro of Elviña, as well as the tower of Hercules, which will be visited on day 6 and that next year 2019 will meet the tenth anniversary since its declaration as a member of the World Heritage List of UNESCO.

This meeting follows the previous ones organized in Aranjuez, Ávila, Ibiza, Segovia, Valle de Boí, Santiago de Compostela, Úbeda y Baeza, Tarragona, Mechón, Burgos and Mallorca. With the inclusion of the caliphal city of Medina Azahara, there are 47 heritage sites in Spain, the second place in Europe, third country in the world, after Italy and China, with the highest number of World Heritage sites.
