The Galician Tourism Cluster met with the Regional Minister of Employment, Trade, and Emigration, José González, and the Director of Tourism of Galicia, Xosé Merelles, in a working meeting aimed at strengthening synergies between the regional government and the Galician tourism sector in terms of job creation, talent acquisition, and the valorization of tourism professions.

During the meeting, attended by the Cluster’s president, Cesáreo Pardal, the vice president, Jesús Picallo, along with several members of the technical secretariat, a selection of priority measures from the Galician Tourism Strategy 2030 was presented to the Xunta de Galicia. These measures focus on improving employability and boosting the region’s economy through tourism. The Cluster emphasized the need for coordinated action to address current employment challenges, focusing on innovation, training, and generational change in the sector.

Among the selected proposals, the Cluster highlighted support programs for innovative tourism products that promote collaboration between tourism and other strategic sectors such as commerce and industry. The Cluster also addressed the need to develop actions aimed at promoting tourism professions, with the aim of improving the social perception of the sector and fostering vocations among young people.

Another highlight was the importance of promoting mechanisms that facilitate generational change, the recovery of emigrated talent, and the hiring of unemployed people through joint programs that combine training, incentives, and support. The Cluster emphasized its willingness to collaborate in developing initiatives that respond to the reality of tourism employment in Galicia and contribute to establishing a population in the region.

The Galician Tourism Cluster expressed its gratitude to the Xunta (regional government) for its receptiveness and expressed its commitment to continuing to work collaboratively with the various regional ministries to consolidate a stronger, more competitive, and sustainable tourism sector, capable of generating quality employment and contributing to the social and economic development of Galicia.
