The creation of new tourism products on ‘Santiago Ways’ and the professionalization and adaptation of the sector to new challenges will be the objectives of the collaboration agreement that the Xunta de Galicia will sign with the Professional Association of Tourist Guides (Apit Galicia). Based on this agreement, the Xunta will allocate 170,000 euros to aid for this purpose.
The agreement complements the Galicia Safe Destination Master Plan, which will define the new Galician tourism model based on quality, sustainability and safety. The autonomous administration will allocate 37.5 million euros to the shock plan to reactivate tourism, which includes aid to travel agencies and tour operators, as well as promotion and loyalty tools, such as the tourist voucher. It also includes aid for the implementation of the “coronavirus insurance”, which would cover the expenses of tourists or pilgrims in the event of a possible contagion by Covid.
