The Director of Tourism of Galicia, Nava Castro, and the president of Portos de Galicia, José Juan Durán Hermida, have signed a collaboration agreement that reinforces the commitment of the Autonomous Administration for the international promotion of tourism and nautical activities in Galicia, As one of the elements that allow to continue working on the diversification and deseasonalization of the Galician tourism through the capture of new flows of recreational boats or to increase the rent of boats in the destination, a practice that generates millions of euros and in Spain alone Exploits with a remarkable volume the community of the Balearic Islands.
The agreement includes the joint promotion abroad of facilities and port services for the nautical services available in the community, as well as the promotion of tourism activity in the region at the Le Grand Pavois, the Nautique Paris Show and at the Southampton Boat Show (United Kingdom), the main sectoral events at the international level. There are also two presentations in the cities of Cork and Dublin in collaboration with Turespaña to spread the Galician offer in the market and also present the Galician cruise and nautical offer in Portugal.
It should be recalled that in 2016 8,667 boats from other countries landed in the Galician ports, which represented a record and growth of 4% in all the facilities of the community and up to 14.5% in the navies of the Rías Baixas.
