Casa- Torre de A Tinería, in Lugo, also known as the old San Miguel hospital and property of the Xunta, will become a centre for the promotion of food and wine tourism in the province of Lugo. This was announced by the heads of the departments of Culture and Tourism and Environment, Roman Rodriguez and Angeles Vazquez, during a visit to the site during which it was also announced that the tender for the works will occur during the summer. Roman Rodriguez pointed out that, after restoration, the property will be transferred to the Association of Hotel and Tourism Hospitality, APEHL, which will install its administrative offices, which will bring about “a significant saving of resources for the entity.

In addition, the building will have multipurpose classrooms for training and activities and will have an information point for visitors focusing on Lugo’s cuisine and tourism. The Minister of Culture and Tourism said that this action will also involve the “rehabilitation of a unique building, the oldest in Lugo”, which belongs to a typology now extinct, the Tower-House, of late medieval origin.

This project advances, in addition, in the objective to dynamize the Barrio de la Tinería and it is accompanied with the works of urbanization of the UI-8, with which a square will be created that will give public access to the Pazo de Doña Urraca, since at the moment it is not connected with the streets of the surroundings.
