With the objective to achieve the consolidation, positioning, diffusion and impulse to the commercialization of the tourist product called “A rest in the Ways”, program that organizes stays in Spas located in the route of the different Ways of Santiago combining the Way of Santiago and the thermalism, the project was presented officially again in the frame of the International Congress on Water and Health that Termatalia organized in Expourense.
Promoted in 2010 at a national level by the Galician Association of Spas, being relaunched in 2019 with different actions such as famtrip, workshop, brand creation, website and several presentations, the project is part of the proposals promoted by the Cluster of Tourism of Galicia in its Ideas Competition, with the support of the Xunta de Galicia – Agency of Tourism of Galicia aimed at the creation of tourist products oriented to the Way of Saint James based on the Galician thermal offer
With the participation of the Association of Spas of Galicia, Foundation Fairs and Exhibitions of Ourense, Union of Hotelkeepers of Ourense, Friends of the Galician Cociña and Caldaria Termal, “A Rest in the Ways” has been designed to complement the Way of Santiago incorporating the offer of Spas of Galicia.
“This project does not only look for the benefit of the companies of the thermal sector of Galicia, but also of other companies and tourist activities of the complementary offer, prioritizing the market of proximity”, explained the manager of Spas of Galicia, Benigno Amor. The project compiles experiences in 12 spas in the four provinces that combine stays and thermal treatments with activities in the surroundings of the different ways of Santiago such as visits to wineries, trekking, cultural activities and gastronomy.
Showcooking
The presentation of the project at the International Congress on Water and Health also included a showcookins organized by Amigos da Cociña Galega with the participation of chefs Antonio Lorenzo de A Faragulla, Javier Outomuro de A Taberna and Javier Lorenzo del Pazo de Monterrey, who prepare a healthy menu based on quality Galician products in line with the values of the project that were paired with wines from the D.O Ribeiro and D.O Monterrei by sommelier Mercedes González.
