Five establishments will benefit from a grant of 500 euros for the development of environmental and social projects.
The Galician tourism sector has once again demonstrated its commitment to the environment by supporting the initiative promoted by the Xunta, Ecoembes and this Cluster to encourage waste separation and selective collection. A total of 303 hotels joined the project, distributing 385 yellow containers for the collection of packaging and light waste and 725 litter garbage cans. In addition, 102 campsites and 56 hostels were equipped with 437 recycling points.
This was highlighted in the act held in Santiago de Compostela on Friday 24 with the participation of the General Director of Environmental Quality, Sustainability and Climate Change, Sagrario Pérez; the director of Administration and Relations with the Associations of Friends of Camiño, Ildefonso de la Campa; the president of the Galicia Tourism Cluster, Cesáreo Pardal, and Bruno de Llano and Fernando Blázquez, representing Ecoembes.
Also present at the event were representatives of five of the establishments participating in the campaign that have won each of the five checks for the amount of 500 euros drawn for the development of environmental and social projects. These are the Parador de Turismo de Baiona, the Hotel Combarro (Poio), the Hotel Thalasso Cantábrico Las Sirenas(Viveiro) and the hotels Torres Touriño and Pazo Revel (both located in the municipality of Sanxenxo).
The initiative of the Xunta, Ecoembes and the Cluster has been completed with the development of training activities among the participants on the selective collection of waste generated in their establishments, and with the delivery of posters, information leaflets and elements identifying their participation in the project.
