Note is the growth in international tourism, which accounted for 26% of total demand

Galicia received 2.7 million passengers last year, a figure that increased 3.2% over the same period last year. After the remarkable growth of the first half, summer is confirming its trend and raises overnight stays to 5.35 million, 5.6% more, according to INE figures.
The international tourist continues to show above-average increases, increasing the number of travelers by 6.4% to close to 775,000 and overnight stays by 11% to 1.3 million, a record never before achieved. Thus, although national tourism continues to be the majority, especially in summer, the differences with respect to the international one are shortened. In fact, the latter increased by 3.6% in its number of visitors and 9.2% in their overnight stays in July, reached a weight of 26% of the total number of tourists staying in the month.
The known data allow to make a first partial balance of the summer, to have a global vision of July, month in which demand grew again by 2%. Thanks to this, the overnight stays reached an all time high of 1.7 million, with more than 700,000 tourists. By type of accommodation, hotels remain the majority, with 68% of the total demand but the tourist apartments are significantly increased. Positive figures also include rural tourism and pensions.

This is evidenced in the report released today by the National Statistics Institute (INE) with the occupation survey in regulated tourist accommodation.
