The Galicia Tourism Cluster is very positive about the development of Fitur, as well as the high number of meetings that have taken place in the business space available at the fair.

The success achieved at this year’s edition of the International Tourism Fair, Fitur, which has exceeded all expectations, has been reflected in the high number of visits to the business area of the Galician Tourism Cluster, with attendance levels close to those of the years prior to the pandemic.

This work area, a meeting point for professionals in the sector, hosted nearly 300 meetings between different companies belonging to the entire tourism value chain, an undoubtedly very positive figure considering the current health situation, which has meant that many professionals have not been able to travel to the fair this year.

In line with previous editions, the Cluster’s business space was attended by public organisations, such as city councils, provincial councils and geodestinations, but it was mainly the private sector, such as incoming agencies and accommodation, among others, that made the most of this area, which allowed them to establish contacts, share experiences, showcase their products and set up collaborations.

Of all these visits, it is worth highlighting the growing interest in tourism based on sustainability, as well as the importance of digitalisation, areas in which Galicia is redoubling its commitment to adapt to market trends. Likewise, as proof of the maturity and professionalism that the sector has been acquiring in our community, there has been a growing interest in wine tourism, active tourism, thermal tourism and family tourism, areas in which Galicia undoubtedly has a lot to say.

With regard to contacts with other countries, we would highlight those made with Japan, Brazil, Poland, Mexico and France for collaboration agreements at institutional and private level.

Based on the development of Fitur, the forecasts are reaffirmed that 2022 will be a year that, thanks to the momentum of Xacobeo, will allow Galicia to approach the performance of a pre-pandemic year, hoping that the recovery of international tourism will occur from the summer onwards.
