Santiago de Compostela, specifically Monte do Gozo, will host the II World Meeting of Associations of Friends of the Camino, an event that will take place between October 19 and 22 under the motto ‘Associations. Memory and future’.
This event, in which debates, conferences, round tables and work sessions will be held, is organized by the Spanish Federation of Associations of Friends of the Camino de Santiago, Xacobeo and Turismo de Galicia.
At the moment there are 800 people who showed interest in this congress. According to the organization of the event, everything indicates that the results of the first edition, held in 2015 in Compostela and in which nearly 300 members of associations from all five continents participated, will double. Currently, groups from South America, the United States and Asia have already confirmed their presence, in addition to the vast majority of Spanish and European entities.
The event will begin on Thursday, October 19, with the opening ceremony, and will continue the following days with different round tables, presentations, conferences and screenings. The closing ceremony will put an end to the World Meeting, but this will not be the definitive end. On Sunday, October 22, at 9:00 a.m., participants will walk from Monte do Gozo to the Compostela cathedral to attend the Pilgrim’s Mass.
