The Pazo de Oca, the Monasteries of Carboeiro and Oseira, the church of VeraCruz de O Carbaliño, as well as dramatised visits, among the novelties of this new season.

The Tourist Trains of Galicia programme, which this year adds two new itineraries: the Route of the Monasteries and the Route of the Wine of the Ribeira Sacra through the Miño, offers a total of 12 thematic routes that will cover the four provinces of the Community with 56 departures from spring to autumn during the weekends. In addition, for the first time, there will be theatrical performances by characters who will discover the history of the places they pass through.

The initiative is promoted by Turismo de Galicia in collaboration with INORDE. In this sense, the Director of Tourism of Galicia, Nava Castro, stressed that “the Tourist Trains of Galicia have been revealed as one of the best options to know some of our best resources and landscapes”, in reference to the enormous acceptance of the public during the previous five editions. In fact, last year they had an occupancy rate of over 86% and several of the itineraries sold out. 98% of travellers from 17 countries and almost all the communities recommended the experience and gave it a rating of 8.7 points out of 10.

With the incorporation of these two new itineraries, the aim is to bring new attractions closer together, as they will incorporate emblematic spaces of Galician heritage, wineries and new museums into the programme of visits. In the specific case of the Route of the Monasteries, users can visit the Pazo de Oca, A Estrada, the Monastery of Carboeiro in Silleda, the Monastery of Oseira, in San Cristovo de Cea, or the temple of the Vera Cruz de O Carballiño, both in the province of Ourense. Participants will finish the day at the spa of Caldas de Partovia, where they will enjoy the properties of its thermal waters.

Quiet and sustainable tourism
The other novelty is the Ribeira Sacra del Miño Wine Route, which complements the existing Sil Route, offering another perspective of this place that aspires to be declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The itinerary will include, among others, town halls such as Monforte de Lemos or Chantada, spaces such as the Arxeriz Ecomuseum in O Saviñao, as well as a catamaran ride on the Miño to end the day at the Vía Romana winery.
A program that combines nature, thermalism, enogastronomy and culture, specializing and enriching the tourist offer, diversified amais throughout the territory.

From 2 June onwards

The programme is completed by the Route of the lighthouses, the Route of the Pazos and Historical Gardens of Galicia, the Route of the Ribeira Sacra del Sil Wine Route, the Route of the Ribeira Sacra and Valdeorras Wines, the Route of the Ribeiro-Rías Baixas Wine Route, the Route of the Monterrei Wine Route, the Lamprea Route, the Lugo Romano Route and the Thermal Route of Ourense and the Galician Versailles. On the other hand, the dramatised trips with professional actors will be distributed along the Ruta del Viño Monterrei, the Ruta de los Vinos del Ribeiro y Rías Baixas and the Ruta Lugo Romano.

The Tourist Trains of Galicia 2018 will start operating on June 2nd and will finish on October 27th. The routes include train journeys, guided tours and bus transfers and have a price per route of 40 euros for adults (with discounts of 15% for groups of 10 or more adults) and 20 euros for children between the ages of 3 and 13.
