Martín Códax has been designated as the Best Winery Open to Tourism and the Quinta de San Amaro Hotel has received one of the special mentions for the Best Wine Tourism Experience.

The official presentation of the awards will be held on 17 November in the Auditorium of the Queen Sofía Museum in Madrid.

Galicia is once again proving that it plays a leading role in the field of wine tourism. This has been confirmed by the Spanish Association of Wine Cities (Acevin) through the biennial awards with which its Wine Routes of Spain product club recognises the best initiatives developed by its members. Two Galician establishments from the Rías Baixas Wine Route, the only one of the Galician routes that is part of this association, are among the winners of the sixth edition of the awards.

At the official awards ceremony, scheduled for the 17th in the Auditorium of the Queen Sofía Museum in Madrid, the representatives of Martín Códax will receive the award for the Best Winery Open to Tourism. The members of the jury in charge of deciding have valued of Martín Códax “the extraordinary enotouristic adequacy of its spaces; its quality and bet for the sustainability; the wide range of services and experiences that it offers, renewed periodically and highlighting the local values and traditions”. And they have also highlighted “the successful approach to the promotion and marketing of wine tourism, using modern, attractive and quality resources, looking for all kinds of audiences but paying special attention to young people to involve and educate them in the wine culture”.

The other establishment of the Rías Baixas Wine Route distinguished in this sixth edition of the awards of the Wine Routes of Spain is the hotel Quinta de San Amaro, which has received one of the two special mentions awarded by the jury in the category of Best Wine Tourism Experience. The other mention went to Vintae Luxury Wine Specialist, from the Rioja Alta Wine Route, while the main prize in this category went to El Hilo de Ariadna, from the Rueda Wine Route.

Nearly one hundred entries from 24 of the 36 routes that form part of the Wine Routes of Spain competed for this year’s awards. A jury made up of professionals from the Administration, the university, the wine and tourism sector and the specialised media was responsible for evaluating all the proposals and deciding the destination of the awards.
