The alliance for tourism excellence, Exceltur, has just published its first Atlas of the municipal contribution of tourism in Spain (https://www.exceltur.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/AtlasMunicipalEspecializacionTuristica.pdf). This document provides information at the local level on the relevance and social contribution generated by tourism in Spanish municipalities, as the first bastion of relevant information on economic, social and environmental conditions.
The document studies the 500 Spanish municipalities with the highest number of tourist accommodation places in terms of number of hotel places, apartments by keys, camping, rural houses and houses for tourist use. The Atlas presents the referred data, the dimension of the accommodation offer, the relevance of tourism in the social and economic dynamics of each municipality, and the volume of jobs directly related to the tourism sector.
Below, you can consult the atlas of the municipal contribution of Galicia in the year 2022, with the 34 municipalities with the most tourist places in the community, their accommodation model, and the specialization and tourist contribution of each destination. Sanxenxo, Santiago de Compostela and Vigo make up the top 3 of this ranking:
