Three towns represent Galicia in the ‘Tourist Destination Spain 2025’ contest, an initiative that seeks to highlight the cultural, natural and architectural wealth of Spanish towns. In this edition, Palas de Rei, Froxán and Cambados have been selected as the Galician finalists, competing among a total of 48 towns from all over Spain.
Palas de Rei, the charm of the Camino de Santiago
Located in the province of Lugo, Palas de Rei shines for its historical legacy and its relationship with the Camino de Santiago. Among its jewels, the Pambre Castle stands out, a perfectly preserved medieval fortress that evokes the stately past of this land. Furthermore, the municipality surprises with manors, Romanesque churches and landscapes that invite you to discover the heart of Galicia.
Froxán, a fairy tale town
In Folgoso do Courel, Froxán stands as a treasure for lovers of tranquility and nature. This small town, declared a Site of Cultural Interest, captivates with its traditional architecture and cobblestone streets that seem taken from another time. Its fountains, mills and natural landscapes offer a unique rural tourism experience, ideal for those looking to disconnect from the urban bustle.
Cambados, the capital of Albariño
On the other hand, Cambados, in the province of Pontevedra, stands out as a reference for the Galician wine tradition. Known as the European City of Wine, this town in the Rías Baixas combines its prestigious production of Albariño with an impressive historical set of mansions, squares and monuments that tell its rich history.
The winner will be chosen through open voting until January 19, a process that highlights the uniqueness of these destinations and their ability to attract tourists looking for authentic experiences. Whatever the result, Galicia already celebrates the recognition of these three towns that reflect the essence and diversity of its territory.
