The Holy Year and the Way of St. James will be the central themes of the stand that can be visited in Madrid from 19 to 23 January.

A stand of more than 1,000 square meters will be the letter of presentation with which the Galician tourist offer will be known in the next edition of Fitur, the International Tourism Fair to be held in Madrid from 19 to 23 January. The Way of St. James and the celebration of the Holy Year Xacobeo 21-22 will be the central axes of a space designed to attract international tourism with a new image of Galicia, in constant transformation, but that does not renounce the traditional values of its offer nor the conditions as a safe destination for visitors that allowed it to lead the national recovery during the past 2021. This was emphasised by the manager of the Galicia Tourism Agency, Emilio de la Iglesia, at the official presentation of the stand held at the Galician Conference and Exhibition Centre in Santiago de Compostela, an event at which the president of the Galicia Tourism Cluster, Cesáreo Pardal, also took the floor.

The Cluster will once again have its own space in this stand with a modern and colourful design that aims to transmit an idea of hope and illusion. One of its main promotional elements will once again be a life-size silver botafumeiro (incense burner) framed in a set of mirrors that will show the different faces of the region’s tourist destinations.

Fifty tourist products and destinations and around twenty tastings to be held in a dozen exhibition spaces, as well as samples of food and wine products endorsed by professionals from the sector and representatives of the Galician Centre of Hotel and Catering, live crafts and audiovisual elements make up the bulk of the Galician offer that will travel to Fitur. “We are going to Fitur with the message that Galicia is in fashion with a quality offer that is what tourists are demanding after the pandemic”, explained Emilio de la Iglesia after describing Galicia as an “open-air tourist oasis”.

After the change of dates last year due to the pandemic, Fitur returns to its usual place in the calendar to once again turn the Ifema facilities into the main focus of attention for the tourism sector for a few days. The first three days of the fair (19 to 21 January) will be reserved for professionals in the sector, while the last two (22 and 23) Fitur will open its doors to the general public.
