The deadline, which ended on March 30, will be extended until early May.
The beneficiaries will be able to cover up to 90% of the planned actions and receive up to a maximum of 150,000 euros.
Galician tourist accommodations will have more time to apply for aid for energy efficiency actions granted by the Xunta. The public administration intends to extend the deadline for submitting applications, which initially closed on 30 March, until the beginning of May in order to make these subsidies reach a greater number of companies. To date, less than 10% of the more than 7 million euros available in subsidies has been used.
The aids, as can be seen in the electronic headquarters of the Xunta, are aimed at hotels, guesthouses, rural tourism establishments, tourist lodges and tourist apartments, as long as they occupy the entire building, although it is established that those tourist accommodations that have catering premises integrated in the building with direct access from the public road and that are of the same ownership also meet this requirement.
The beneficiaries may receive up to 90% of the investment made and up to a maximum of 150,000 euros. The eligible actions foreseen are the improvement of the energy efficiency of the thermal envelope, the improvement of the energy efficiency and use of renewable energies in the thermal installations of heating, air conditioning, cooling, ventilation and sanitary hot water; including the installation of heating and cooling networks powered by renewable energy sources and/or waste heat for multi-building tourist complexes, and the improvement of the energy efficiency of the lighting installations.
To be eligible for support, the implementation of these actions must enable the establishment to meet two conditions: achieve a 30 % reduction in non-renewable primary energy consumption compared to the baseline situation, and improve the building’s overall energy rating by at least one letter on the carbon dioxide emissions scale, unless the building already has an A energy rating. Beneficiaries will also be able to cover the costs of the improvement project from the subsidy received.
Precisely, the content of these grants and the requirements and procedures to apply for them were the focus of a webinar organized by Galicia Tourism and held on January 16 with the participation, among others, of the president of the Cluster, Cesáreo Pardal.
