The executive committee of the DTI Network agreed at its last meeting on the incorporation of thirty Galician municipalities.

The institution has also decided to temporarily halt the accession process in order to consolidate the integration of the already accepted members.

Galicia continues to gain weight in the Network of Smart Tourist Destinations launched by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism. At the last meeting of its executive committee, held on 30 September and chaired by the Secretary of State for Tourism, Fernando Valdés, a total of 67 new destinations from all over Spain were approved for membership, almost half of which are Galician municipalities: A Bola, A Merca, A Pobra do Caramiñal, A Rúa, A Veiga, Bande, Betanzos, Cartelle, Celanova, Entrimo, Gomesende, Larouco, Lobeira, Lobios, Miño, Muíños, Noia, O Barco de Valdeorras, O Bolo, O Carballiño, Padrenda, Petín, Pontedeume, Quintela de Leirado, Ramirás, Rubiá, Valga, Verea, Vilamartín de Valdeorras and Vilanova de Arousa.

With the incorporation of these municipalities, Galicia now has 78 members in the DTI Network, which makes it the second autonomous community with the largest presence, surpassed only by Andalusia, with 98. Behind are Castilla y León (44), the Canary Islands (32), Asturias (26), Catalonia and Valencia (both with 24), and Murcia (19),

The DTI Network details that it is currently made up of 610 members, of which 437 are full member destinations, 79 are institutions, 91 are collaborating companies and 3 are observers. They also point out that the member municipalities represent 44% of the Spanish population and that 42 of the 52 provincial capitals are part of the network.

Even so, in order to ensure the high quality of the accompaniment of the member destinations, the executive committee has decided to postpone the procedure for new members while it proceeds to consolidate the incorporation, categorisation and diagnosis of the destinations that are already part of the network.
