• Accommodation and restaurant establishments can submit their applications until November 14, 2024.

Last Saturday, June 15, the Official Gazette of Galicia published the call for applications for the new line of subsidies promoted by Turismo de Galicia, aimed at reinforcing energy efficiency measures in Galician tourism companies. With an investment of 10 million euros and financed with European funds, this call will be open until November 14.

Both accommodation and restaurant establishments may submit their applications to benefit from this aid. The call is non-competitive. The intensity of the aid will, in general, be up to 70% of the total eligible cost of the project. However, this figure may increase to 80% or even 90% if non-renewable primary energy savings of 20% or 30% can be proven.

The aid will cover a wide range of energy efficiency improvements. Eligible actions include: improving the energy efficiency of the thermal envelope; improvement of energy efficiency and use of renewable energy in thermal installations; photovoltaic installations for self-consumption; improvement of energy efficiency in lighting installations; renovation of appliances; automation and energy control systems.

This call introduces several improvements and flexibilities in the conditions to facilitate the participation of a greater number of companies. Among these improvements, the inclusion of restaurant establishments as possible beneficiaries stands out, the possibility of energetically rehabilitating parts of the building and not just complete buildings, the elimination of the minimum age of the buildings to be rehabilitated and the absence of a minimum savings requirement energetic.

Eligible expenses must be incurred before April 2025, which provides Galician tourism companies with a significant opportunity to update their facilities and adopt more sustainable and efficient practices.
