Throught intergovernmental cooperation and the recent agreement signed between Turismo de Galicia and the Mancomunidade do Salnés, this territory already has a new tourism product, Ruta del Padre Sarmiento, an itinerary that was created with the aim of recovering and publicize the drawn by Fray Martin Sarmiento in this area in 1745 and realized that his work “Journey to Galicia”.

Director of Tourism of Galicia, Nava Castro, highlighted the importance of new resources that offer another reason to visit this region, which has enormous wealth in terms of tourism resources is concerned (museums, beaches, cuisine, deposits or singular spaces like the Intertidal Complex Umia-Grove, etc.).

Those responsible for the Commonwealth, meanwhile, announced that the aim of the route, which likely will run from June, is to value the figure of this great illustrated Galician offering at the same time, an alternative to road Sntiago and tourism in the area. The Ruta del Padre Sarmiento along the coast between Pontevedra and Padrón, where it communicates with the Portuguese Way, joining the Spiritual variant, with the difference that this already has the status of the Jacobean route, a distinction that those responsible for the Commonwealth O Salnés want to extend this new path.
