The commercial mission of the Galician Tourism Cluster concludes at the World Travel Market in London. The international fair, one of the most important meetings on the calendar for the sector, was held from November 4 to 6 at the ExCeL exhibition center. The 2024 edition has been larger than in previous years, with new pavilions being enabled to house the more than 4,000 exhibitors in attendance.

Galicia was one of the communities that was integrated into the Turespaña stand, where Turismo de Galicia had a promotional space, in which it in turn reserved a meeting area that the Galicia Tourism Cluster made available to the participants in the mission. commercial of this fair.

The delegation of 16 people was made up of the president of the Cluster, Cesáreo Pardal; the vice president, Jesús Picallo; the treasurer, Alfonso Martínez; the member and former president of the Cluster, Francisco González; by the tourism brand ‘Galicia Destino Sostible’, and by the representatives of the tourism companies Iberik Hoteles, Tee Travel, Pazo Los Escudos Hotel & Spa Resort 5*, Hotel Carlos I Silgar, Viajes Camino de Santiago, Oca Hoteles, Grupo Carrís, Expourense and Artnatura Galicia.

The CTG participated with the catalogs Galicia Travel Agencies and Galicia, a luxury for your senses. The ‘Galicia Sustainable Destination’ Product Club was present to, in addition to promoting the commitment of the Galician business community to sustainable development, learn about trends, news and current events in terms of tourism sustainability. For their part, the attending companies have not only been able to establish new contacts, but have strengthened ties with suppliers and travel agents who already know the destination and the companies that make it up.

British tourism in Galicia

According to INE data, in 2023 the British market registered around 130,000 tourists, who generated 930,000 overnight stays. Figures that exceed the 2022 values ​​by 16% and 10%. In fact, the British market represents 5.5% of the total international tourism that Galicia accumulates, positioning itself in fifth position behind Portugal, France, Germany and Netherlands.
