The Xunta de Galicia and the Galicia-Northern Portugal Euroregion have announced a new agreement to promote the joint promotion of the Camino de Santiago with a view to the Xacobeo 2027. This strategic pact will seek to enhance cross-border cooperation and take advantage of the international attractiveness of the Camino as an engine of tourism and cultural development in both territories.
The agreement, which will be signed soon, provides for the implementation of coordinated actions in key international markets, as well as the design of joint campaigns to highlight the heritage and landscape values that Galicia and northern Portugal share.
In this context, Xacobeo 2027 is presented as a unique opportunity to consolidate the global projection of the Jacobean route, strengthening the flow of pilgrims and tourists on both sides of the border. According to the Xunta, the collaboration between both regions will allow not only to increase the number of visitors, but also to promote sustainable and quality tourism.
This commitment reinforces the close relationship between Galicia and northern Portugal, based on their common cultural identity and their commitment to the joint promotion of their historical and natural wealth.
