The Galician Tourism Cluster continues to promote sustainability in the hospitality sector with its participation in the Hostelería #PorElClima project, an initiative that helps bars, restaurants, and leisure venues reduce their carbon footprint and improve their energy efficiency. In recent weeks, six new Galician establishments have joined this initiative, reaffirming the sector’s commitment to the fight against climate change.
One of the main benefits of being part of Hospitality #ForTheClimate is entry into the drawing for a climate voucher worth €1,000, used to upgrade equipment with more efficient technologies that contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This innovative program, promoted by ECODES, allows participating establishments to replace an appliance with one that consumes less energy, with a selection process based on an analysis of each business’s carbon footprint.
To qualify for the bonus, establishments must have been operating for at least one year and have completed the Hospitality #ForTheClimate online self-assessment, which allows them to access their private profile on the platform. From there, they can track their compliance in several key areas, such as water conservation, energy efficiency, and responsible consumption, in addition to calculating their carbon footprint and receiving recommendations for improvement.
A practical approach to real sustainability
Hospitality #ForTheClimate offers concrete tools to effectively reduce the environmental impact of establishments. Each business receives personalized recommendations based on its current situation and has access to detailed information on each climate action it can implement. Additionally, the calculated and offset seal awarded by the program to establishments that participate in measuring their carbon footprint can be presented in official calls for proposals as proof of their commitment to sustainability.
With this collaborative initiative, the Galician Tourism Cluster reaffirms its commitment to more responsible tourism, providing Galician hoteliers with practical solutions and real support in the transition toward more sustainable business models.
