The City of Culture hosted the ceremony of awarding diplomas to take advantage of training, promoted by the Galician Tourism Cluster in collaboration with the provincial associations of A Coruña, Lugo, Ourense and Pontevedra

90 companies have been accredited in the first edition of the Galician Friendly English language training programme, which took place between September and November in the four Galician provinces. The City of Culture of Santiago de Compostela this morning hosted the closing ceremony of the programme, in which the participants received their diploma of achievement and the Galicia Friendly seal which certifies that their establishment is capable of offering English language attention to the customer, an objective pursued with this initiative aimed at the Galician tourism sector.

The initiative is part of the professionalization and improvement of marketing actions that the Galician Tourism Cluster undertakes annually in collaboration with its associates, in this case the Provincial Association of Hotel and Catering Businesses of A Coruña, the Provincial Association of Hotel and Catering Businesses of Lugo, the Provincial Federation of Hotel and Catering Businesses of Ourense, and the Provincial Federation of Hotel and Catering Businesses of Pontevedra. The aim is ultimately to improve the marketing of the Galician destination by facilitating and improving the attention to the growing number of tourists coming from outside our borders.

From the Galician Tourism Cluster, its president, Francisco González, valued positively this type of initiatives, which allow the sector to improve in the quality of the services offered, while highlighting the good reception that has had the program “which leads us to consider the need to continue betting on programs in which language training can not be missing, which helps us in the process of seasonalization in which we are working,”explained the president who announced the intention

In addition to the training for the correct attention in English for tourists, the Galicia Friendly programme includes the promotion of participating companies through the implementation of the Galicia Friendly guide, which will be prepared from the data of the participating establishments in the programme and will be distributed from 2018 onwards at the main international fairs in which the Galician destination is promoted.
