They will sign a three-year agreement worth 630,000 euros to consolidate Galicia’s growth as a tourist destination of excellence.
The Xunta de Galicia and the Galicia Tourism Cluster will renew their collaboration to promote the implementation of the Q for Quality Tourism certification in the Galician sector. This was made clear at the last weekly meeting of the regional government, which gave the go-ahead to the signing of a new agreement between the Galicia Tourism Agency and the Cluster with a duration of 3 years, a total amount of 630,000 euros and the main objective of making “Galicia continue to grow as a tourist destination of excellence”.
By virtue of this agreement, the Cluster will provide advice and support both to the companies that have to renew this recognition granted by the Spanish Institute for Tourism Quality, and to those that aspire for the first time to the certification and that must pass the corresponding audits. The Xunta highlights the importance of public-private collaboration and the key role played in this process by the Cluster as an entity that represents most of the Galician tourism sector.
The Q for Tourism Quality is a nationally and internationally recognised seal that is already widely implemented in Galicia. The year 2020 was the year in which Galicia added the most new certifications and with 328 it once again retained second place in the group of autonomous communities in Spain, behind only Andalusia. In addition, Galicia leads several categories at national level in terms of the number of certifications in the traditional categories of the sector (hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, rural accommodation, tourist hostels, spas, marinas, active tourism and industrial tourism) and has been a pioneer in the implementation of the Q for Quality in new categories such as unique spaces and sustainable accommodation.
