The anniversary of the organisation and the Galicia Destino Sostible Product Club will be the focus of two presentations at the international tourism fair to be held from 18 to 22 January in Madrid.

The Cluster will manage the business space of the Galicia stand, which was officially presented in Santiago de Compostela on Friday 13th.

The Galicia Tourism Cluster will once again attend the International Tourism Trade Fair, FITUR, to be held in Madrid from 18 to 22 January, to give voice and visibility to the Galician tourism sector. Once again, it will be the entity in charge of managing the business space on the stand of the Xunta de Galicia and the Galicia Tourism Agency, and will take advantage of this stand to make two presentations that on this occasion will have a special significance. It is ten years since the Cluster was launched, so the commemoration of this tenth anniversary will be the focus of the event scheduled for Friday 20th (at 13:00) under the title “Galicia Tourism Cluster: Ten years joining forces to promote a strategic sector”. In addition, two days earlier, during the opening day of FITUR, on Wednesday 18 (at 11 a.m.), the Cluster will present the Galicia Destino Sostible Product Club, launched just six months ago with the collaboration of the Xunta and of which 70 companies are already members.

The president of the cluster, Cesáreo Pardal, spoke about the content of both presentations and the importance of this edition of FITUR on Friday 13th during the event held in Santiago de Compostela to present the Xunta’s stand, which was also attended by the director of the Galician Tourism Agency, Nava Castro; the director of the Hotel Management School of Galicia, Marta Fernández; the manager of Galicia Quality, Ana Méndez, the head of the Promotion Department of the Galician Agency for Food Quality, María José González, and the president of Ourives de Compostela, Antonio Ouro.

“As the slogan of this new edition of FITUR indicates, ‘We care for the world. We are tourism`. Without sustainability there will be no tourism, which is why it is an essential element of Galicia’s tourism strategy”, explained Cesáreo Pardal before explaining that “Galicia Destino Sostible will be the protagonist of the presentations of the Cluster, which also celebrates a decade representing the sector this year, which makes this edition of FITUR even more special for us and during which we will also share our ten years of history as well as our prospects for the future”. The Cluster President also thanked the Xunta for its collaboration. “Once again this year the Galicia Tourism Cluster, together with the regional government, will act as ambassadors for our land, highlighting the wide variety of experiences and possibilities it offers with more than fifty presentations at this 43rd edition of FITUR. It will be a showcase of our natural, heritage and cultural wealth, which we care for and protect so that it continues to constitute a solid and attractive offer”.

For her part, the Director of Galicia Tourism, Nava Castro, explained during the presentation of Galicia’s stand in Compostela that enogastronomy will be the centrepiece of a space that this year will see a record number of presentations. The stand will occupy an area of more than 1,000 square metres in Hall 9 of IFEMA and will host more than fifty presentations of resources, products and innovations by local councils, councils, geodestinations and other Galician entities. Moreover, in line with the idea of sustainability promoted by the Cluster, the space has been designed following “the circular model of the 4 Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Recover), which are part of the new opportunities offered by tourism in Galicia”.
