The Spanish Tourism Board has just celebrated its General Assembly, an event in which the president of the Galicia Tourism Cluster, Cesáreo Pardal, participated. The conclusions of this appointment were several. On the one hand, the Tourism Board foresees a historic first quarter of 2024, coinciding with Holy Week in March, during which a high level of hotel occupancy is expected. The president of the entity, Juan Molas, pointed out that sales of both incoming and outbound tourism “are working at very eloquent percentages,” especially in urban destinations.

On the other hand, ‘The tourism that is coming‘ was also presented, a multi-segment study of the situation prepared by the Tourism Board in collaboration with ObservaTUR, which highlights the strengths, challenges and objectives to consolidate the leadership of the sector.

Among the factors that worry the sector, Molas pointed out the international geopolitical situation. Furthermore, drought is also a worrying element in some specific areas (Catalonia, Seville, Malaga and part of Córdoba), so water policy will be one of the fundamental issues within tourism policy. Finally, another essential aspect is the updating of the Imserso social tourism program, adapting it to the current reality and allowing its seasonal adjustment, taking into account that it encompasses up to four million potential tourists.
