Reducing the environmental impact and promoting the circular economy are the main objectives of the agreement signed between the Galician Tourism Cluster and the start up ECO-ONE, which makes its second-hand furniture buying and selling platform available to Galician hotels. In this way, accommodation establishments that need to renew their furniture are offered a practical and ecological solution, facilitating the purchase and sale of surplus pieces.
The signing of this agreement is part of the Cluster’s commitment to sustainability in the Galician tourism sector. The ECO-ONE platform will allow interested hotels to reduce waste, preventing excess material from ending up in landfills or warehouses. Furthermore, this option not only generates additional revenue for hotels, but also offers other establishments the opportunity to purchase high-quality furniture at competitive prices, thus contributing to environmental sustainability.
The ECO-ONE platform is present in other communities and, since its launch, has successfully managed the sale of more than 1,000 pieces of furniture. The platform has attracted hotels of all categories, from nationally recognized hotels to small boutique hotels and agritourisms in northern Spain.
In Galicia, with nearly 1,000 registered hotel establishments with 58,417 beds, the ECO-ONE formula can be a very interesting alternative for the sector, which is very aware of measures that favor sustainability.
The president of the Galician Tourism Cluster, Cesáreo Pardal, recalls that “the commitment to sustainability has been a transversal element of tourism strategies in Galicia for a long time and that solutions like this contribute to consolidating an increasingly aware sector, not not only by reducing the environmental impact, but also by promoting the circular economy, which directly benefits local communities.”
Carlos Fluixá, CEO of ECO-ONE, comments: “We are excited to bring our platform to Galicia. With tourism characterized by its strong relationship with nature, we believe that this initiative will allow Galician hotels to adopt more sustainable practices and move towards a more responsible model. At ECO-ONE we are committed to supporting you on this path with our tool”.
