The Terras de Trives region will be the Spanish Mountain Capital in 2024. This recognition is granted by the Spanish Association of Mountain Municipalities (esMontañas), an entity that was born in 2013, with the objective of “promoting legislative improvements and actions that contribute to improve the lives of its inhabitants, stop the depopulation of these territories and generate economic and social development in these municipalities,” the group explains. It is currently made up of nearly 250 Spanish municipalities.

 

The choice of this area of ​​Ourense represents a boost for regional tourism, as well as a model to follow in terms of sustainable and responsible tourism development in coexistence with traditional activities.

Other values ​​that the towns that make up this capital share are the commitment and interest in environmental preservation, as well as the traditions of activities such as livestock farming, the promotion of local culture and new bets in the field of tourism and outdoor activities. .

 

During 2024, these municipalities will host events and activities related to mountaineering, cultural and sports tourism, the relationship of their inhabitants with the environment, economic development and preservation.
