Spain is about to enter a new quarter marked by record figures in tourism, with a projection of spending in the destination that exceeds 32,000 million euros by international visitors. This represents a notable increase of 25% compared to the same period last year.
The projections come from Turespaña and were announced by the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Jordi Hereu, who anticipates that Spain will receive around 25 million tourists between January and April.
Hereu highlights that the recent Easter has contributed significantly to this increase, recording very favorable figures despite climatic challenges such as Storm Nelson, which has affected a large part of the national territory. The minister also highlights the importance of national tourism, which is showing notable dynamics, thus contributing to the overall strength of the sector.
Hereu anticipates that the closing figures for 2024 will be positive and could exceed those of the previous year, a period in which Spain reached record levels in both spending and the number of tourists. Last 2023, Galicia added more than 7 million visitors.
