A dozen Galician companies participated this Monday, April 15, in a workshop in Vigo to present Galicia’s MICE offer to a group of Canadian operators. This meeting is one of the activities of the fam trip, organized by Turismo Porto and Norte de Portugal with the collaboration of the Galicia Tourism Cluster, to promote the Euroregion area as a MICE destination in Canada.
The workshop puts an end to the visit to Galicia of the eight Canadian operators, which began last Friday in Santa Cruz (Oleiros) and continued through A Coruña and Santiago to end today in Vigo. During these days, the members of the fam trip had the opportunity to learn about part of the five-star hotel offering, as well as the gastronomy of the area and conference centers such as Palexco and the Mar de Vigo Auditorium.
Previously, the group of Canadian operators toured Porto, Vilanova de Gaia and Matosinhos for three days in which they visited emblematic places such as the Stock Exchange Palace, the Freixo Palace and the Douro Valley, as well as different luxury hotels and shopping centers. conferences such as Alfándega or WOW.

This fam trip is part of the close collaboration that the Tourism Cluster of Galicia and Tourism Porto and Norte de Portugal have been maintaining, with the support of the Xunta de Galicia and the Tourism Agency of Galicia, for the promotion of both destinations side by side. together in order to take advantage of synergies and boost tourist flows in the Euroregion.
MICE is one of the tourism segments that contributes the most to alleviating the seasonality of tourist activity in destinations, generates value and growth and maintains quality and stability in employment. According to INE figures, the international conference tourist had an average expenditure of 298 euros per day in 2023, compared to 184 euros for leisure tourists.
Tourism for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions contributes to promoting tourism with high added value, essential for diversifying the tourist offer beyond the usual destinations.
