The boat of the project “Río Miño, a navigable destination” has already made its presentation crossing.

The consolidation of the stretch of the Miño river that traces the border between Galicia and Portugal as a unique and differentiating tourist destination is the main objective of “Río Miño, a navigable destination”, a project in which the Xunta de Galicia (through the Galicia Tourism Agency and the Directorate General for Natural Heritage), Porto and Northern of Portugal Tourism and four municipalities on both banks are participating: the Galician towns of Salvaterraand Tui, and the Portuguese towns of Valença and Monçao. The planned initiatives include improving the navigability of the 16-kilometre-long section between the international bridges linking Tui and Valença and Salvaterra and Monçao, modernising the jetties, signposting and promoting the Visit Río Miño brand.

The work developed by both parties and financed through the European funds Feder with 1.1 million euros, is already bearing fruit with the launch of a river route that will allow to cross the waters of the Minho in a tourist boat and stop on both banks to discover its various attractions.

The boat made its presentation trip on Friday 17 December from the Salvaterra wharf in the framework of an event held to present the details of the project. The first vice-president of the Xunta de Galicia and Regional Minister of Presidency, Justice and Tourism, Alfonso Rueda, headed the delegation that enjoyed this inaugural trip, which was formed by the mayors of the four participating municipalities and several representatives of the tourism sector, such as the president of the Galicia Tourism Cluster, Cesáreo Pardal.

The boat is expected to start its trips for the public in the near future and to develop its activity during holiday periods, weekends and public holidays. The reservation of places will be managed through the platform https://www.hemisferios.org/and the telephone number 620 900 265.
