In about 775 million per year figure the company Golf Business value added that golf brings to the tourism business in Spain, according to a study by the company entitled “The Economic Impact of Golf in Spain”, which concludes that this sport , by direct and indirect actions, it generates over 2,000 million euros annually in our country. This figure is produced by a number of 1,088,000 tourists playing annually golf in our country, a significant percentage of whom are British, with 38% of the total, followed by the Germans, with 16%, and Swedes, with 10%.
In relation to the added value of the tourism Golf itself, the report reveals that the contribution of this sport in the tourism environment has great relevance, generating the figure of 564,384,450 euros annually in purely tourist activities outside the provision Tourism directly on the golf course, which is 211,268,200 euros, resulting in a total of 775,652,650 euros.
This report aims to identify the magnitudes of “value” that provides the tourism Golf Spain; understand the structure of the Golf Sector in major source countries; analyze the percentage of tourists playing golf in Spain vs total tourists who visit us; obtain data on the origin of tourists playing golf in Spain and destinations where they play; study the behavior of tourists playing golf in Spain, in the type of accommodation and other issues. Among the report’s findings also they are playing Golf 2% of the tourists who visit us but that between 3 and 3.5 of tourists coming to Spain are golfers although many of them do not reach highlights play this sport in our country due to lack of information on the runways.
