According to ObservaTUR, 13% of Spaniards will enjoy their summer break this month.

Almost 60% will opt for national destinations and 67% will travel to a community other than their own.

August, the most important month of the tourist season is just behind us, but activity in the sector continues. Data compiled by the National Observatory of Outbound Tourism (ObservaTUR) show that 13% of Spaniards who enjoy a summer holiday choose September to take that break, thus surpassing those who have opted for June (11%), although far behind those who have opted for July (29%) or August (42%).

The differences vary according to age groups, narrowing in the case of people aged 65-74, in which case August (20%) loses the top position in their summer holiday preferences to July (31%) and is also overtaken by June (24%). In this case, September is in fourth place, but is also up several points on the overall figure to 18%.

As for the destinations most in demand by Spaniards for September, the ObservaTUR data reflect a predilection for national destinations. This will be the case for 60% of Spaniards who will go on holiday this month. And among them will also be the majority (67%) who will travel to an autonomous community other than that of their usual residence, opting mainly for sun and beach destinations and for a week’s travel.
