With a budget of 12 million euros for the next three years, the tourism roadmap for the province plans to promote 40 differentiated actions to make tourism “the engine of social, economic, cultural and environmental development of the province”

The Pontevedra Provincial Council presented the main objectives and lines of action that make up the Strategic Tourism Plan “Tourism 2020 Pontevedra”, a roadmap detailing the five strategic lines on which 11 specific action plans will be developed with 40 differentiated actions to be implemented over the next three years.
With a budget of 12 million euros we are facing the “framework document that will guide tourism policy from 1 January 2018, under criteria of rigour, planning and measurable objectives in order to make the province a destination of excellence and sustainable,”in the words of the president of the Pontevedra Provincial Council, Carmela Silva. The plan is based on an analysis of the tourist situation in the province of Pontevedra, through surveys and sectoral roundtables, and includes the necessary actions to respond to the challenges posed by the objective of making tourism a driving force for social, economic, cultural and environmental development in the province. To achieve this, the plan establishes five central lines of action: governance, the structuring of supply, excellence in the destination, effective promotion and marketing, which will define the strategy of Turismo Rías Baixas over the next three years. In this way, and through these five lines of action, the aim is to “convert the resources, products and talent of the province into the three pillars on which to act and build a model of sustainable, excellent and innovative tourism”, as indicated by the provincial president.
These five strategic lines will be materialized in actions such as the implementation of “Mesa Provincial de Turismo” that will have a propositive function and also of observation and follow-up of the execution of the plan; launching of communication and promotion efforts, national and international, especially from the interior. In this sense, Silva reported that “we are going to make a qualitative leap in online communication and create differentiating tourism products and experiences appreciated by visitors and tourists, a tourism offer adapted to the demands of the 21st century, with new experiences that encourage seasonalization and complementarity.

The president of the Pontevedra Provincial Council stressed that in order to meet all the challenges posed by the plan is necessary to “share leadership, work together and work together, all administrations and the sector, so I ask you to make a further effort because its implementation requires the coordinated and joint work of all and all and its success will be the whole province.
