The collaboration agreement between the Galician Association of Tourism Agencies (AGAVI) and the Galician Tourism Agency also allowed the creation of 200 new tourism products adapted to the current situation

A total of 871 trips that were destined outside of Galicia and that had to be canceled due to the pandemic have been redirected to destinations in this Autonomous Community thanks to the collaboration agreement signed by the Galician Association of Travel Agencies and the Tourism Agency from Galicia.

With an endowment of 300,000 euros, the agreement was created with three main objectives: on the one hand, redirect to Galicia trips that had other destinations; on the other hand, create new tourism products adapted to the new situation and, thirdly, the creation of a legal team to which any travel agency in Galicia can raise their doubts free of charge.

The agencies that requested the aid included in the agreement have so far created 400 new products, which can now be contracted. These are packages closely related to the hallmarks of Galicia, such as the Caminos de Santiago, spas or rural tourism, adapted to new demands.

The president of AGAVI, Juan Rivadulla, positively valued the results of the agreement and explained that, at this moment, the work of the agencies is practically paralyzed. In this sense, he demanded that “there be a determined and coordinated action on the part of all Administrations to ensure that, during this period of inactivity, it is possible to keep business alive”.

Rivadulla recalled that “the crisis of the pandemic began for travel agencies even before the virus appeared or measures had to be taken” since “there were thousands of people who had already contracted and paid for trips that finally had to be suspended.”
