Ruta Vino Rías Baixas

The sommelier Jose Luis Arangude was in charge of conducting the first of the Catas between Friends that the Rías BaixasWine Route has celebrated this 2017, an initiative oriented to the final public and that has been developing for three editions. In this first tasting of the year the chosen place was the Hotel San Carlos Delicattssen of Santiago de Compostela and the protagonists were the red wines of the denomination of origin Rías Baixas.

A total of 30 people took part in the tasting, focusing exclusively on the Rías Baixas reds produced by four of the associated wineries. The first part of the tasting focused on a brief explanation about these wines, since “they are not the best known of the Denomination of Origin, but they do have a high potential”, assured Aragunde. In this sense, it emphasized its capacity of aging. “They are even better after one or two years of going to the market,” he said. Three monovarietales (from Pedral, Espadeiro and Sousón) and a plurivarietal were found among whose varieties was Brancellao. The participants in this event were very surprised with the freshness and the taste of the wines tasted.

The next appointments of this program developed by Rías Baixas Wine Rourte will take place in March, April and October in Vigo, Pontevedra and O Grove, respectively.
