It will be held between April and December and this year incorporates a seventh category of action: Coastal Tourism.
Only two months after the awards ceremony of its first promotion, the Xunta’s Tourism Projects Accelerator (Turislab) is already preparing its second edition. Those aspiring to participate in this training and monitoring programme promoted by the Galician Government through the Galician Tourism Agency and with the collaboration of companies and organisations such as the Galician Tourism Cluster can submit their proposals for innovative solutions to improve the tourism sector between 23 February and 22 March.
The second edition of the Accelerator will be held between April and December and will once again distribute 80,000 euros in direct prizes. In addition, it will allow the promoters of the selected projects to participate in a training and mentoring programme that includes the provision of spaces for learning and networking.
Once the deadline for submitting applications has passed (in the first edition there were more than 80 applications), 15 projects and 5 reserves will be pre-selected to take part in phase 1 of the Accelerator. After a month of work, 10 finalists will be selected to take part in phase 2, the central part of the programme, and who will be eligible for the final prizes.
Last year there were six categories in which the proposals submitted could be classified: Camino de Santiago, Sustainability, Social Tech, Gastro Tech, Travel Tech and Infrastructure Track. In this second edition, a seventh category has been added to cover another area of interest, Coastal Tourism, thus linking the initiative with the Territorial Plan 2021 and giving space to other initiatives that can provide a differential plus to Galician tourism from the field of nautical and maritime tourism. Another new feature is the extension to 2 years of the maximum period of activity that startups that wish to participate in the call can have.
The three most valued projects at the end of the programme will be awarded with 40,000, 20,000 and 15,000 euros and will be able to attend with the Galician Tourism Agency to fairs and events in the sector to promote themselves. In addition, there will be an award in recognition of the entrepreneur endowed with 5,000 euros.
Team, economic impact, product orientation, innovation factors, impact on the tourism sector, scalability and internationalisation are the criteria on which the members of the selection committee will have to base their assessment of each project.
