A total of 66 Galician tourist establishments will benefit from subsidies from the Xunta de Galicia for actions to improve infrastructure in tourist accommodation establishments, included in the MAT Plan through a call endowed with 1.2 million euros.
The beneficiaries will be able to cover investments aimed at accessibility and the removal of architectural barriers; works for the optimisation of facilities with the aim of obtaining quality certifications, especially the Tourist Quality Q; or actions to increase the classification of the establishment and raise its category.
It also includes air-conditioning initiatives that favour sustainability through the implementation of energy saving measures; the modernisation of facilities and the beautification of the environment or the renovation of the furniture necessary for the operation of the accommodation establishment in its different typologies.
The beneficiary companies are tourist accommodation establishments included in the Register of Tourist Companies and Activities of the Xunta (REAT), with a special incidence on small and medium-sized companies in the sector, with a seniority in the activity of not less than five years. Aspects such as the possession of environmental certificates or the implementation of equality and training plans are also taken into account. The net investment admitted for each proposal was up to 100,000 euros and the projects obtained a subsidy of up to 35% of the subsidizable investment budget. Therefore, the maximum amount of aid each beneficiary entity is 35,000 euros.
The commitment to quality tourism is one of the main objectives of the MAT Plan for the Improvement of Tourist Accommodation, a strategy that aims to promote the renewal and modernization of establishments in the Community with a look at the great challenge for the sector will mean the celebration of the neighbor Jacobeo 21, an appointment in which the Xunta is working intensely.
