25 professionals participate in the training program “Smart Tourism: AI tools for the transformation of the sector”

Last week, the training program “Smart Tourism: AI tools for the transformation of the sector” began in Pontevedra. This initiative, a joint effort of the Galicia Tourism Cluster, the Pontevedra Provincial Council, and the Galician Regional Government (Xunta de Galicia) – Galician Tourism Agency, aims to support the tourism sector in adopting artificial intelligence solutions that improve efficiency, innovation, and competitiveness. Enrique Lancis (HumanIA Labs) and Susana García are leading the training, which focuses on understanding the real possibilities of AI in the tourism sector.

  • First Sessions: AI Fundamentals and Professional Use of ChatGPT

The first session, held last Wednesday, offered a clear overview of the fundamentals and trends of AI applied to tourism. Key concepts, real-world use cases, process automation, new digital skills, and the main ethical challenges associated with these technologies were addressed during the session.

The opening was attended by the Cluster’s president, Cesáreo Pardal, treasurer, Alfonso Martínez, former president and board member Francisco González, and the director of Turismo Rías Baixas, Romina Fernández, along with the professionals enrolled in the training.

The second session, held the following day, delved deeper into the professional use of ChatGPT, the differences between models, prompting techniques for obtaining more reliable and useful results, and the creation of customized GPTs applicable to different departments within the tourism sector. The session included practical exercises focused on customer service, content creation, planning, and task automation.

  • Upcoming sessions in December

The program will continue in December with two additional sessions focused on:

  • The use of generative tools and alternative models such as Claude, Gemini, Copilot, and Perplexity, applied to marketing, communication, design, analysis, and tourism management.
  • The real-world integration of AI in businesses, with key insights for identifying opportunities, designing a roadmap, ensuring data privacy and security, and moving towards a more sustainable and digitally prepared model.

  • A commitment to the transformation of Galician tourism

With this training program, the Cluster and the Pontevedra Provincial Council reinforce their commitment to a more innovative, prepared, and competitive Galician tourism sector, supporting businesses in a transformation process that is already crucial for the future of the industry.
