With the aim of improving knowledge among professionals in the tourism sector (business and personal) of what sustainable tourism means, the County Council of Pontevedra is launching the Protura project, aimed at tourism professionals in Pontevedra and Castilla la Mancha who are interested in developing their business project under the criteria of sustainable tourism or training in this market niche.
Through free online or blended learning courses, professionals will be able to analyze the different available accreditations, knowing examples of good practices, with the aim of informing, training and advising on the principles of sustainable tourism so that they can be translated into management practices. These principles aim to minimize the negative impacts and maximize the benefits of tourism activity in the socio-cultural, environmental and business environment. The project consists of distance and mixed training courses and mixed counselling.
Thus, 8 types of actions will be given, both face-to-face and online, with contents related to sustainable rural tourism, the impact of tourism on the environment, endogenous potential of the area’s resources, etc. In addition, there will be specific support actions from June to September to advise on sustainable tourism, actions to minimise the negative impact of tourism, etc.
The distance training courses (50 hours) will open their platforms from 28 May, while the mixed training (10 hours in person and 40 hours at a distance) will be given in O Grove, A Estrada and A Guarda.
