Members of the tourism and hospitality sector, as well as students from training centres, participated in the three days promoted by the Xunta de Galicia under the title “Neste Entroido… que non chos disguise”, with the aim of sensitizing these groups to the need to know and value the liquors and spirits labeled. The program, organized in collaboration with the Regulatory Council of the Aguardientes y Licores Tradicionales de Galicia, the Galician Tourism Cluster, the Consellería de Medio Rural y Turismo de Galicia, combines tasting sessions and preparation of cocktails and dishes, by renowned oenologists, barmen and chefs, from Galician liquors and spirits. The demonstrations were held at the Centro Superior de Hostelería de Galicia in Santiago de Compostela, the IES Vilamarín in Ourense and the CIFP Paseo de las Pontes in A Coruña throughout five sessions, in morning and afternoon shifts for students and professionals, respectively.

The aim is, on the one hand, to highlight the importance of tasting certified and labeled spirit drinks in the tourism sector, so as to avoid the consumption of “disguised”products, not regulated, while highlighting the quality and versatility of this type of products in our cuisine and cocktails through the demonstration carried out by the barman of the Casino La Toja, Ángel Camiña and Ángel Camiña.

The head of Rural Environment, Ángeles Vázquez, participated in the first of the sessions, where she appealed for new professionals in the tourism sector and more specifically in the hotel and catering industry to always acquire products with all the certifications. At the presentation, at the Centro Superior de Hostelería de Santiago, José Antonio Feijóo, president of the Regulatory Council of the geographical indications for traditional Galician spirits and liqueurs, gave an introduction on these products to the students present, who then heard a master class by Hadrián Lueiro on the application of cooking techniques in cocktails.
