Galicia takes on the coordination of Green Spain with the aim of promoting the path as the backbone of the north of the peninsula

The tourism brand integrated by Asturias, Cantabria, Galicia and the Basque Country is working to establish joint lines of work and priorities among which is the promotion of the Way of Saint James

Galicia will promote the Way of Saint James as the backbone of the communities that make up the Green Spain brand and as an example of its tourism model, based on quality and sustainability. This is how the Regional Minister of Culture and Tourism, Román Rodríguez, advanced it within the framework of Fitur, where the transfer of power from the Basque Country to Galicia was staged, which in this 2020 assumes the coordination of the activities of this tourist brand that integrates Asturias, Cantabria, Galicia and the Basque Country. All these territories have in common the enhancement of the resources of each territory and the promotion of elements such as gastronomy, heritage, nature, landscape or the Jacobean Route itself.

Precisely in this sense, Rodríguez highlighted the Way as a “safe value” not only for the regions that make up this tourist brand, “but for the whole of the north of the peninsula” due to its capacity to position the Galicia Brand and the Spain Brand at a national and international level, promoting values such as diversity or multiculturalism and favouring the development of the rural areas through which the different routes pass.
