The Professional Association of Galician Tourist Guides has promoted an app called Guías de Galicia (Galician Guides) that will allow tourists to receive their instructions via cell phone and without the need for an Internet connection. The application, which will be available for the Android and IOS system, will be exclusive to professional members and will help maintain social distance and not disturb other visitors who may be on site at the time and are not part of the group.

As an Internet connection is not necessary, no data is consumed during the tourist explanation, the explanation is not interrupted when you are in a place without coverage and the transmission is “practically in real time”, with a delay of “microseconds”, as highlighted by the president of the Professional Association of Tour Guides of Galicia, Tommy Alvarellos, who announced that it will be an application that can be downloaded for android and Iphone.

The application is adapted to the requirements imposed by the coronavirus pandemic because no devices are shared, which would then have to be disinfected and avoid crowding. Everything is free of charge and at zero cost to both the guide and the clients. The initiative has been carried out within the framework of the agreement signed by the association with the Xunta de Galicia and with the cooperation of the CLUSTER TIC of Galicia.

Thank you for choosing Galicia

In addition, and in cooperation with AGATUR (Galician Association of Rural Tourism), APIT Galicia will offer guided tours in the 7 cities of Galicia for all customers staying in rural tourism establishments, which will allow to enrich the stay with a complementary activity while offering the possibility of knowing the secrets of the villages of Galicia and the geodestines of Galicia with active tourism and nature activities, among a wide range of activities for the whole family.
