As part of the celebration of International Study Days and current “Mercy and Pilgrimage” that celebration in Compostela with the aim to further deepen the idea of Santiago as the capital of pilgrimages, the Director of Tourism of Galicia, Nava Castro , advanced that his department is organizing a special program on the occasion of the celebration of the Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy that “propitiate added to the offer value of our community,” he said.
Nava Castro explained that the program includes all kinds of cultural, artistic and social events, numerous research activities and initiatives related to tourism development and welcome the pilgrim.
So, Galicia will host during this period of holding numerous exhibitions, among which highlighted the “Galicia, the Pilgrim House” exhibition to be held in the months of May and June in the Fonseca School; the traveling exhibition “Reception and Hospitality on the Camino de Santiago”, which will visit various cities Galician and English; or the exhibition “Via Lacobitana” which can be seen in various domestic destinations, among others.
In addition, the programming will host various congresses and conferences as well as cultural programs and concerts like the lecture series “New forms of solidarity” which will run from May to November and will feature the participation of important personalities such as Vicente del Bosque or Paula Farias, president of Médicos sin Fronteras, among others. Or as the summer course at the University of Santiago de Compostela in summer “IX Jacobeas Lessons International: hospitality on the Camino de Santiago”, without forgetting special programs as “Music on the Way” or the cycle “Culture on the Way” , all actions that will produce a positive economic impact both in Santiago de Compostela, in particular, as in Galicia, in general.
