The director of the Galician Tourism Agency, Nava Castro, presided over the event attended by some 150 international agents and buyers from the congress, convention and incentive sector.

OPC Galicia, the Association of Congress Palaces of Galicia, HOSPECO, ASEHOPO and Galicia Destino Golf are united in the promotion of the Community as a tourist destination for congresses and events through the sector guide Galicia MICE, which they presented at the IBTM World held in Barcelona. In the event, which was attended by the director of Tourism of Galicia, Nava Castro, participated more than 150 international agents and buyers linked to the tourism sector of congresses and incentives.
Through the new edition of the guide, interested suppliers can learn more about Galicia’s offer in this segment, with 61,616 hotel beds, 13 conference and fairgrounds, 84 museums and 14 international connections (22 in summer). The publication, which was distributed through USB, is organized by sectors and venues and includes conference halls, hotels, event management companies, golf courses, incentive tourism initiatives and, in general, all resources such as audiovisual services companies, staging companies, transport, graphic services or hostesses. The guide, designed in PDF format, is backed up by a web portal with constantly updated information (www.galiciamice.com)
Ana Trevisani, president of the Galician Association of Professional Congress Organisers, OPC Galicia, explained during the presentation that the sector expects to grow from 70 million turnover (60 million in 2017) and more than 1,500 events during 2018 (1,000 in 2017), an increase that comes “after a complicated period for the sector mainly due to the economic crisis”.
At the event, led by presenter Silvia Jato, the guide GALICIA MICE was given to the attendees, which brings together the offer for the organization of congresses, meetings, incentives and fairs in the Community, and was attended by Enrique Pena, director of the Association of Galician Congresses Palaces, representing the Galician Tourism Cluster, who highlighted the importance of GALICIA MICE to compete in both the Galician Tourism Cluster and the Galician Congress. Galicia has important communication infrastructures, ideal spaces to host congresses of any size and a unique tourist offer in Europe “.
